FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Artwork & Design

What file format should my artwork be in?
Please upload your artwork as a PNG file at 300 dpi minimum (higher is even better). If you need a transparent background, please supply it that way. For gang sheets, ensure your design is centered and doesn’t include large empty margins — any extra space will count toward the print size.

What size should my artwork be?
We accept artwork up to a maximum width of 58 cm. As a guideline:

  • Pocket prints: approx 10 × 10 cm

  • Rectangular prints (letterbox): approx 28 × 10 cm

  • Large square prints: approx 28 × 28 cm
Since we use DTF (Direct-to-Film) technology, we have flexibility — so if your print size varies, just get in touch!

Can you print fine details?
Yes — we can reproduce quite fine detail. However, for best results we recommend avoiding strokes thinner than 0.8 mm, and stick to sans-serif fonts at a minimum size of 8pt. Thin script fonts and ultra-fine lines carry a higher risk of missing ink, weak adhesion, or peeling.

Can I print photographs?
Absolutely. We can handle photo-quality artwork. Just make sure it’s high resolution (300 dpi or more), and avoid semi-transparent pixels — these can cause white under-base showing or edge haloing.

What happens if my artwork is low resolution or has semi-transparent pixels?
If artwork is blurred, pixelated, or contains semi-transparent (partial opacity) areas, the printer may automatically add extra white under-base. This can lead to visible white edges or degraded colour vibrancy. Raising resolution or flattening transparency is usually the fix.

Do you offer artwork fixes or resizing?
Yes — we can assist with artwork clean-up or rescaling for a small artwork fee. We’ll send you a proof for your approval before printing.

Can you print semi-transparent fades/shadows in my design?
Not directly. Because DTF printing uses a full white under-base and each pixel is printed, transparent fades won’t come through properly. For fade/shadow effects we suggest using halftone patterns instead.

Quantity & Sizes

How many prints will I get?
It depends on the size of each print and how you arrange them on the gang sheet. For example:

  • On 2 m² film you might fit ~175 prints of size 10 × 10 cm

  • ~68 prints of size 28 × 10 cm

  • ~24 prints of size 28 × 28 cm
If you’re unsure, use our cost calculator or contact us for a quote.

Can you print on A4 or A3 sheets?
We print on rolls of film rather than fixed sheets. You’re welcome to upload/gang to A4 or A3 sizes, but keep in mind our width limit is 58 cm.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our MOQ for DTF heat transfers is 100 cm of film length.

Colours & Matching

Will my screen colours print exactly?
Our DTF printers are colour-calibrated using a spectrophotometer. We convert your RGB artwork to our CMYK/White profile in-house. While we strive for accurate colour, we cannot guarantee exact matches unless you opt for the colour-matching service.

Can I request a specific colour match?
Yes — we offer a colour-match service for a small fee. You can send us a physical swatch or provide the Pantone code. Turnaround is usually 5–10 business days, and we’ll send a side-by-side comparison photo for approval.

Can you send a colour swatch?
Yes — for an additional fee we can mail you a colour swatch kit (which also includes a digital version for your design software).

Ordering, Turnaround & Shipping

Can I order sample transfers?
Yes — we offer sample packs to allow you to evaluate colour vibrancy, feel, and finish. When ordered, they are typically dispatched within 3 Days (excluding weekends) via tracked postage.

What is a gang sheet or gang file?
A “gang sheet” is a large film sheet onto which multiple individual artworks are arranged (ganged) to maximise print efficiency. Example dimensions: 58 cm wide × 100 cm high.

What’s the turnaround time?
We offer a 3 Day turnaround from the point of payment and full artwork approval. Orders placed after 2 pm on a business day or over the weekend will roll over to the next business day. Courier dispatch happens the next available slot after printing.

Can I change or cancel my order?
If you contact us immediately and we haven’t yet printed your job, we’ll place it on hold and allow corrections. However, once the job has passed the artwork approval stage and is in the print queue, we cannot cancel or amend it. If you still wish to cancel after printing has started, an administration fee may apply.

How long do refunds take?
Refunds may take up to 10 business days depending on your bank or payment provider, though they often show up in ~5 business days.

Application & Care Instructions

How do I apply DTF heat transfers?
Press times and settings vary depending on substrate:

Material Temperature Time Pressure
Cotton 150 °C 10–12 sec ~90 PSI
Polyester 130 °C 8–10 sec ~90 PSI
Neoprene 110 °C 6–8 sec ~90 PSI

Can I use an iron instead of a heat press?
We do not recommend using a household iron — it doesn’t provide even heat and consistent pressure, which can compromise adhesion and print longevity.

What surfaces can DTF heat transfers adhere to?
Our transfers are suitable for:

  • Textiles: cotton, poly, blends, canvas, denim, leather/leatherette, neoprene

  • Non-textiles: wood, MDF, cardboard

Why is my transfer not sticking properly?
Most adhesion issues stem from insufficient or uneven pressure. Ensure platen is flat, garment surface is even (buttons/zips can interfere), and consider a heat-press pillow for tricky areas.

How should I store the transfers?

  • Unroll carefully (especially if warm-peel film is used)

  • Store flat (avoid curling/warping)

  • Keep in a cool, dry place (ideal: 18-24 °C, humidity <50%)

  • Use sealed bags with a humidity desiccant where possible

What are the after-care washing instructions?

  • Wait 24–36 hours after pressing before the first wash

  • Wash inside out, cold or warm (30–40 °C)

  • Medium spin cycle (600–800 rpm)

  • Use mild detergent, minimal fabric softener

  • Avoid tumble drying, bleach, or ironing the print

  • Line-dry inside out

Can DTF transfers be applied to water/wind-resistant fabrics or sublimated garments?
Yes, but with caution. Many specialty fabrics have coatings that interfere with adhesion. We strongly recommend a test press for these materials. For sublimated garments, consider dropping the temperature to ~120–130 °C to reduce dye migration.

Why Choose DTF vs Vinyl, DTG & Screen-Printing?

Why is DTF better?

  • No weeding required — Saves time compared to vinyl.

  • True full-colour & photo-quality gradients — Unlike spot-colour screen print or vinyl.

  • Soft hand-feel — Transfers embed into fabric and feel more like part of the garment.

  • Exceptional durability — Resists cracking, peeling, and fading when correctly applied.

  • No pretreatment needed — Unlike DTG printing, which needs fabric prep.

  • Scalable & efficient — Gang sheet printing allows multiple designs/sizes in one job.

  • Multi-surface compatibility — Not limited to apparel — works for accessories, promotional items, and more.

Important Disclaimers

  • During peak periods, turnaround and dispatch may be delayed — if your project is time-sensitive, please contact us.

  • Slight colour variation may occur between re-orders unless a colour-match service is used.
